Babyface – The Song, The Cover & The Remix

Social and online media came alive yesterday when Don Jazzy and Wande Coal traded accusations over the song, Babyface which was released earlier in the day, with two other versions promptly coming up.

By the end of the day, most if not all Nigerian music lovers were already aware of the conflict between the erstwhile associates and had taken sides. What nobody saw coming however was talented producer Shizzi (who was credited by Wande for producing the track and is behind Davido’s biggest hits) weighing in on the controversy with the following statement;

“I have heard and seen some folks rants about me stealing production credit for Wande Coal’s new single “Baby Face” and I would like to clarify this issue. I was only doing my job by making the beat for Wande and that’s what I did. I don’t see any reason why people should jump into quick conclusions without taking their time to really dig into the matter for facts.”

“Two years back, I remember I created a demo for Wande Coal’s “Shawty Go Low” and someone else took the credits. I was in shock because I had plans to finish the song with Wande and was hoping it would be released as a single which I produced.”

Shizzi actually did drop the link to ‘his own’ version of Go Low.

Whatever the final outcome of this issue, one thing that is for sure is that we music lovers have no control over the next turn of events. What we can do however is to enjoy the trio of “Babyfaces” and we have included all three songs for your listening pleasure.
